What do ‘Moss in the Jar’, ‘Nomtella’, ‘The Golden Snitch’ and ‘Strawberry Pillow’ have in common? Aside from the exquisite, showstopping culinary creations that they are, these incredible desserts which indulge the imagination were created by the much loved and internationally recognised KOI Dessert Bar.
Reynold Poernomo, along with brothers Ronald and Arnold, have captured the hearts and sweet-tooths of foodies worldwide, with their imaginative desserts and exquisite cakes that have been voted as “an absolute must” by locals and travellers alike.
The journey of KOI commenced long before Reynold Poernomo was inducted into Masterchef’s dessert hall of fame. In fact, it began in their family garage in 2012, where their Mother, Ike Malada, started operations with only $300, to support the family. KOI – stands for ‘Kids of Ike’.
KOI quickly developed a cult following and many supporters from far and wide. After 5 years, they closed their doors to their flagship store in Kensington Street Chippendale. The restaurant’s website hinted that the brothers had decided to ‘finally turn a page and build our new dream venue.’
SHEETH has been appointed to deliver the new dream venue in collaboration with designer Loop Creative.
